The Brief

Unique Venues of London (UVL) were keen to provide their member venues with high-quality hospitality sales training, but some of these members faced challenges as they were part of smaller teams and had limited time and resources. With each venue unable to host exclusive sessions for themselves, UVL looked for a collaborative solution that would make training affordable and accessible, while still being highly relevant to the specific needs of hospitality sales teams.
To ensure the training included the most relevant areas for its members, UVL sent out a questionnaire asking teams to select the topics they would find most beneficial. The top-voted topics shaped the first series of joiner sessions.

The objectives were:

  • Create a cost-effective way for member venues to access professional training.
  • Provide targeted sessions covering priority sales skills.
  • Encourage networking and best practice sharing between venues.

The Solution

We designed a hospitality sales training programme that allowed venues to book individual team members onto specific sessions through a ticketed system. This flexible format meant venues only paid for the training most relevant to their needs, avoiding the cost of a full series.
The sessions we decided on:

  • LinkedIn Training
  • Showround Training

Due to the success of these sessions, a full programme for 2025 was booked, including:

  • Being Proactive in a Reactive Role
  • Closing the Sale
  • Negotiation and Upselling

As always, our training was delivered in an interactive, hospitality-focused style that gave delegates both practical tools and the confidence to apply them immediately.

The Results

The hospitality sales training sessions received overwhelmingly positive feedback from delegates, which we were delighted about. Participants commented on the relevance of the content to their everyday roles and the practical nature of the sessions, which gave them skills they could implement straight away. The demand for LinkedIn training was fantastic, while the showround training really helped teams elevate the way they conducted client visits.

Beyond the sales skills gained, the programme created a great sense of collaboration across the UVL network. Delegates are not only more confident in their ability to handle enquiries and convert clients but also felt connected to the other venues taking part. The success of the programme was clear, with UVL building momentum and committing to the schedule in 2026!
